Description:On 15 February 1945, George Orwell left his desk in London to report as a war correspondent about the advance of the Anglo-American troops on the continent and the effects of the war against Nazi-Germany. Orwell travelled in the wake of the victors through bombed-out German cities. Eight months previously the house he had lived in with his family had been destroyed by German bombs.
