Intersubjective Temporality

Lanei M. Rodemeyer
4.9/5 (33795 ratings)
Description:This book provides an argument against critical interpretations of Edmund Husserl's phenomenology that accuse him of solipsism. It does so by examining the structure of inner time-consciousness and its activity of constitution. Working with the function of "appresentation" in the constitution of objects and time for Husserl, the author argues that the other subject is indicated by the subject's apprehension of objects as it exceeds the momentary perception. The author continues with an analysis of each dimension of temporalizing consciousness, turning primarily to Husserl's later manuscripts on time. From these manuscripts, she takes up certain important notions heretofore generally neglected by the secondary literature in Husserl scholarship such as "near" and "far" retention, and "world-time." She concludes by suggesting that "intersubjective temporality" would be a better way to understand this foundational structure in phenomenology. We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
