The Tale of Gig Ends Here

Melody Ayres-Griffiths
4.9/5 (23098 ratings)
Description:A teenaged girl, Adelaide Pemberton, flees across the wintry, western Canadian landscape, away from an assassin set upon capturing her genetically modified guinea pig, in 'GIG'. It is 2012. Australian-born Mick Hervey, latest proprietor of the Suffield, Saskatchewan Feed and Supply, is dead, victim of a mildly suspicious accident timed with the appearance of a newcomer, Physical Education teacher Albert Johnson. Her father curiously inheriting the Feed and Supply, Adelaide discovers an encrypted message in Mick's ledger, directing her to her attic, where she finds an account of his involvement in secretive experiments, regarding her guinea pig, Gig. Albert Johnson, an assassin hired by a clandestine corporate cooperative to destroy all elements of said project, soon realizes that Adelaide possesses what he requires, but she escapes him with the aid of her friends, Tanya and Jeremy, and sets off toward the Rocky Mountains on her horse, Elmore, with her dog, Rumsfeld. Suspense and adventure ensues. Despite the extraordinary measures taken to elude him, Albert intercepts Adelaide at her destination, and the story is concluded in an unexpected, but pleasing way. Thirty-one short chapters and ninety thousand words, 'GIG' is told from the point of view of a psychohistorian five hundred years in the future, after civilization has fallen to ruin, and been reborn in a simpler fashion. Gig is the first in a line of guinea pigs who can recycle plastic into clean-burning pellets of petroleum jelly, and his story is vitally important to that society. Issues surrounding our integrity and morality are explored, but - and most significantly -- the greatest discussion involves the assumption of our humanity, and the reality that we can suddenly find ourselves lacking, without intention or conscious thought. 'GIG' is inspiring, introspective entertainment for younger female audience. 'GIG' made it to the second round of the 2009 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest. We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
