Description:When Hakim Azzi a disgraced Professor of Antiquities brings some perfectly preserved Abbasid documents to Amani and Sabine in London, it triggers a series of events that none of them were to expect.The House of Wisdom, a library created during the Golden Period of Islamic history, had been saved from destruction by invading Mongol’s in 1258 AD by a Wazir and kept by him in a hidden room in Ctesiphon once the capital of the ancient Persian Sassanian Empire.Azzi sold some documents to Alphonse, a dealer in Tangier, to fund his travel to London. Alphonse sells them on to a German Count who adds them to a collection of ancient documents looted in World War 2 by the German SS. When he learns that the documents are from the House of Wisdom, he launches an expedition to search for the library, but the Counts estranged psychopathic son Paul has his own plans to take the House of Wisdom by force if necessary. Edward Maltravers, a less than honest dealer in antiquities also learns of the House of Wisdom. He traces Azzi and they travel to Ctesiphon where they are caught by the Wazir. Amani and Sabine meet the Wazir, but an error in the Wazir’s magic throws them all back to 1258 AD, where they are caught by Mongol warriors and taken to the round city of Baghdad. They have to impress Hulagu Khan, the Mongol General who’s captured the city, with their ability to fight, visit the past and foretell the future, find a way to escape back to Ctesiphon and return to 2018. With many twists and turns of fortune in the story, the pace and action reach a climax in Ctesiphon when there is a surprising and unusual ending still to be played out.
