Description:Sidford Frederick Hamp (1855-1919) was a British author. Born in Liverpool, in 1872 he travelled to the United States and obtained a place with the Hayden Geological Survey through the influence of his uncle, William Blackmore. Hamp travelled with the 1872 expedition for six months, visiting the area which would become Yellowstone National Park, before returning to England. In 1877, his family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where Hamp later joined them. He married Josephine Cable on November 11, 1899. Hamp wrote many books for the American youth market, short stories, plays, and opera librettos, many set in Colorado.
