Description:N.B. Text is in English & Spanish 'The Narrow Gauge Railways of Spain' is the first country-wide survey of the Spanish narrow gauge since Allen and Wheeler's classic 'Steam on the Sierra' published 35 years ago. All known public narrow gauge railways are mentioned, together with some interurbans, and industrial lines of special interest. Prominently featured are British-built locomotives, some still at work in their 70th or 80th years. The main theme of the narrative is historical, but where rail-ways still exist (mainly in the north where 2,OOOkm of metre gauge survives) the story is brought right up to date. This volume commences at Gerona, hub of a network of three narrow gauge Lines, and sur-veys the whole east and south of Spain, by way of Barcelona, Montserrat, Ribas/Nuria, continu-ing to Valencia and the classic 750mm gauge line seming Castellon de la Plana. There follows a look at the industrial lines in the Sierra Menera area, before moving or to the Alcoy/Denia area with its network of linked metre gauge lines. We travel on to Malaga, with its metre gauge sub-urban system, and then on to the mining railways serving wharves on the river Guadalquivir near Seville. We look at the Huelva area where in addition to the well known Rio Tinto and Tharsis systems there was a fantastic complex of 600mm, 762mm and metre gauge mineral rail-ways serving this isolated pocket of industry. We return to 'public' railways with a look at the 218km long FC Puertollano - Penarroya and the connecting 750mm gauge Valdepenas -Puertollano line, continuing southwards to Cordoba and the Ubeda inter~rban railway. The survey concludes in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, served by the 750mm electric line from Granada. We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
