The movies present ways in which the actors - as litigants, judges, and as parents - handle issues properly and deal with conflict appropriately. Examples of poor judgment and bad parenting are also displayed in these films. I do not necessarily point out these examples in the discussions that follow. My hope is that readers will use their own judgment. State law governs family matters, resulting in a wide range of variation in laws regarding child custody, property distribution, and other laws. In terms of individual state laws and court procedures, each state has its own procedures, forms, and specifics.Appendix A provides 50 links to helpful resources in a wide range of family law issues.
