But the human spirit is such that when we forge ahead on any social issue, we gain an understanding of our nature, and consequently, we will find solutions. Doing nothing is not an option. The human capacity is powerful. For example, Thomas Edison, the inventor, made a thousand unsuccessful attempts before he created the light bulb. He literally lit up the entire world.Unfortunately, government, social justice warriors, and charitable organizations don’t put as much attention and resources into eradicating discrimination as they do for other ills such as cancer, diabetes, and poverty. Thompson wrote in a scholarly article, "A change in terminology is not going to fundamentally change all the conditions and impulses that accompany the horrors of race, ethnicity, nationalism and similar ideological schemes." What this means is that the concept of race is deeply embedded in our psyche, and swapping one word for another would not change much how humans treat each other.
