Description:It is 1985 and Israeli paleontologist, Avi Samuels, takes his family to spend a sabbatical year at Seabrook, a sleepy university town in the American Midwest. He is surprised to find that the head of the department displays a negative attitude toward him. Eventually he discovers that the headquarters of the American Nazi Party, known as the Brotherhood, are situated nearby, and that a plot is being hatched to cause destruction to property and harm certain individuals. The head of the department, who is a member of the Brotherhood, is having an affair with Nancy, the wife of Tom Friedman, a faculty member who is Avi’s friend and neighbor. Avi’s own wife, Rachel, falls in love with Duane, the art teacher at the local community college, and moves in with him. After a series of adventures, incidents and the need to contend with the inhospitable climate of Nebraska, Avi decides that in order to save his family and his academic reputation he must return to Israel.
