Description:Our seventh annual Halloween anthology. Wow. The members of this Barnes and Noble writer's group meet monthly, respond to a writing prompt in the first hour, then read what we wrote. It is amazing how creative our members are with only ten minutes (sometimes we push it to fifteen) to come up with an idea and get the gist of it on paper. The main result is a lot of laughter and camaraderie. We have a fantastic time and B&N is grateful that not all 122 people on your distribution list attend. The twenty-five to thirty that do take up a large section of the store. (We are humbly grateful to B&N for allowing us to use their wonderful store.) After the prompt, we use the second hour to critique our members work. While we only have time for one or two people to read a short segment, the feedback is always helpful to both the author and those who wish to improve their craft. Our authors have published in magazines, anthologies, blogs, and books. Some write for their families, others for the general public, and still others for themselves. We have regulars who we can count on for a wonderful tale each year, along with those publishing for the first time in our little project. (And some of them are very experienced writers.) But we all have one thing in common: we want to grow as both people and writers. Our group helps us do both. In the pages of this anthology are stories created by our members and the members of another wonderful local writer’s group: Lilac City Rochester Writers. The authors edited their own work as well. Both novices and seasoned writers participated, and it really is fascinating to see inside everyone’s creative minds. We do not make a profit. We donate all proceeds to a worthy writing-related cause. Each purchase of an e-book helps us spread literacy to others.
