He was born in Chicago, Illinois where he was discovered by Grammy Award winning R B Star R.Kelly in December 2006. Chef Tone contributed to R. Kelly's and worked on his 2007 release "Double Up." Although Chef Tone did not receive official writing credit for his numerous songs as a ghost writer for R. Kelly, the music industry took notice and in 2008 he signed to Atlantic Records as a writer.
