Description:Introduction form the author:The essays in Inner Demons and other essays comprise what I believe to be the best of the essays from my blog, Riding on the Storm, written between August 2014, and October 2017. They also represent some of my more pertinent contributions to the Occupy Wall Street web site, under the user name GypsyKing, written between October 2011 and December 2013 - most of which has now, unfortunately, been redacted from that site. This book is relatively short, considering the volume of the sources I've drawn from, including roughly one-quarter-million words written for Occupy Wall Street, and the roughly 50 essays written on my current blog. Many of the thoughts expressed here also appeared, at least in their nascent form, on my former blog, which has now been discontinued. One might conclude from what I've written about my former connection to Occupy Wall Street that these essays mainly relate to the problem of inequitable distribution of wealth in America, and in the world, but if so only tangentially. At this time, a hundred years exactly since the Russian Revolution, and the subsequent, monstrous legacy of Joseph Stalin, every thinking individual should see that whatever solutions may be found for the myriad problems of the human condition, they cannot be found through mere inquiry into such questions as the inequality of wealth. Our fundamental problems are built much deeper into us, and arise largely from our fundamental nature, and from the nature of the world itself. Nevertheless, this book is brief, and in that it attempts to address a subject of such complexity its brevity might appear inadequate to address that complexity. The simple reason is that I have no desire to bore the reader. The ideas one encounters over a lifetime, and the ways those ideas are infused with the spirit of the individual, are also both complex and intensely personal. Yet such insights, if they are valid, and are to stand the test of time, must also stand the test of brevity.
