Bermuda: Growth of a Naval Base 1795 - 1932 and a Dockyard Album a Selection of Dockyard Photographs, 1850-1900 (Bermuda Maratime Museum Press Monograph Series)
Description:The Naval History of Bermuda From the Earliest Times, by Captain H. J. Carr, RN, 1893, was the only comprehensive history of the Royal Naval Dockyard at Bermuda until Lt. William Eric Brockman's, composed during his appointment at the Bermuda Dockyard from 1930-32.Brockman brought an interest in nautical research to the station and expanded upon Carr's earlier work. Although he relied upon Carr for much of his coverage of the early period, he included elaboration on the basis of his own analysis and research. For the more modern era, i.e. after 1893, he conducted his own study and authored a scholarly and very readable narrative.Of great interest is his chapter 'The Dockyard Town,' where he describes the social facilities of Dockyard, and the family life of its population, as in an English village-which in reality it was.The absence of illustrations accompanying Brockman's work is partially compensated for by the inclusion of A Dockyard Album of photographs, representing the state of Dockyard in the latter half of the 1800s.We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
