De janvier 1582. Les pp. 7-10 renferment une epitre au lecteur par Chr. Acosta, dans laquelle il dit avoir rencontre, aux Indes orientales, Garcia4da Orta, ' qui venait de faire imprimer a Goa son livre: ' Coio qaios dos simples, e drogas he cousas medicinais da Goa, Jean de Endem, 1563, qu'ayant lu l'ouvrage en question il y avait trouve tant d'erreurs qu'il avait cru utile de publier quelques rectifica tions, et d'y ajouter la description d'autres produits qui avaient echappe a Garcia da Orta. A l'excuse de ce dernier, il ajoute Sed plurimi errores pajim oecurrunt, quos tametsi Auaoris exijiimatio a laus ipfi tribaedos minime patiatur, fed typogra-phi 6; operarum (que in ciuitate Goa, vbi ille foripfit, non adeo culte expolitc inae-niutar et in his regionibas) potins negligentia leaori tame maie/lia tediu pariant. Christophe Acosta, voyageur et medecin a Burgos, naquit a Mozambique et mourut a Burgos, W'edition originale de son ouvrage, dont on conserve un exemplaire a la bibliotheque royale de Bruxelles, est intitulee Tratado de las drogas medi einas y plantas de las Indias Orientales, Burgos, 1578.
