Description:Excerpt from Minutes of the Fifteenth Annual Meeting of the North Carolina Pharmaceutical Association, Held in Asheville, September 3, 1894: With the List of Officers, Committees, Roll of Members and Code of Ethics The deceased in early life entered a drug store in his native town. Not long afterwards he moved to New York City, where he was in the employ ment of Rushton Aspinwall, noted druggists of that day. He gradu ated at the New York College of Pharmacy in 1838 and was among the earliest educated chemists in the United States. He next established himself in the drug business in Buffalo, New York, but doubtless by reason of his marriage to a Southern lady he soon deter mined to make his home in the South and located at Fayetteville, North Carolina, in 1843.
