He was my father's only brother, and as there was a difference of but three years in their ages, and as their relations were always so intimate, he was best able to give a full account of the life of the elder. It was said soon after my father's death, by a distinguished member of the Boston Bar, who had known him for forty years, that all that part of his life which preceded his removal to Boston, in 1834, was known only by tradition.
