Kenny’s old friend from the Melbourne, Pete the barman, has been summoned for a holiday in Chiang Mai, not forgotten by his now rich buddy. Pete makes the error of boasting about his friend’s fortune to an attractive woman in a Chiang Mai nightclub. Unfortunately for Pete, the woman’s older brother just happens to be a Shan Freedom Fighter, looking for one last big earn before organising his freedom fighters from somewhere rather more hospitable than in the Myanmar Jungle! Consequently Pete is kidnapped by the Freedom fighters who hold him in their jungle camp and demand a ransom. Lek tells Kenny he can have Kit rescue Pete from the Myanmar jungle, and in return asks him to collect a Chinese artifact from Macau for him.The artifact is in the hands of Lek's Triad associates, but unbeknown to him the Chinese Government have just found this out and want it back at all costs.A crack commando team is sent to find Lek's courier, and bring the artifact back.Kenny evades them initially by exiting Macau on a horse transport flight to Singapore, but is again cornered when he gets to Bangkok. A horse tranquilizer injection aids his escape and takes the train to Chiang Mai. Meanwhile Pete and his rescuer are in still in the jungle and big trouble, while Kenny’s regular investigation duties are also mounting.A worried American arrives in Chiang Mai looking for his wayward fiancée and his local Investigator and he too unwittingly gets caught up in the action as Kenny finally makes it back to the northern Thai capital. The Chinese Commandoes are also in town, but Kenny manages to divert them to Myanmar to help rescue Pete, while Kenny and his wife try and lay low.
