But on Dr. Cameron's succession to the see of Arichat in 1877, the institution came once more under his quickening in uence. To the new Bishop, who had been the first Rector, and to whom, above all others, it owed its swift rise to a plane of solid efficiency, the College was the dearest concern of his heart. At his inspiration plans were soon undertaken to provide it with premises of greater dignity and solidity than the wooden structure of 1855, and in 1880 was erected the brick building that now forms the eastern wmg of the administrative block.
