Few, at his age and in his circumstances, have formed so extensive an acquaintance or given such promise of subsequent usefulness in the world. It was thought by many to be a debt due alike to the deceased and to survivors, to attempt to rescue his memory from oblivion, and exhibit his example for the benefit of others. This task without any of his own seeking, has devolved on the present writer. It has been executed under the heavy pressure of his daily professional duties: and being now brought to a close, it is submitted, such as it is, ta the public.
