Description:The rock art that was painted, drawn and carved by the Taíno people before the arrival of Columbus on Hispaniola is beautiful, quirky, fascinating and mysterious and has been little studied or documented. I have spent the past 8 years both exploring known caves and rediscovering new ones in order to document this indigenous art form. All exploration and photography was done with the permission of the Dominican government but, to date, my entire project of documenting this prehistoric art has been totally self supported through the sales of prints of my photographs (as well as by painting the occasional house!). While there have been occasional works published in Spanish illustrating this ouvre there are none in print now. I recently published an article titled Finger Fluting and Other Cave Art in Cumayasa, Dominican Republic in the journal Rock Art Research. Rock Art Imagery of the Dominican Republic: An Introduction is a unique visual celebration of this ouvre. 8.5 x 11 inches, full color, offset printing, 28 pages and is profusely illustrated with 65 photographs of pictographs and petroglyphs from 17 different caves and is intensely informative including an introduction, extensive captions and a bibliography.
