Description:1967is an explosive year in the Vietnam War that culminates in the bloody Tet Offensive of 1968. It is also the year that Marine Second Lieutenant Sam, who as 1966 wound down considered himself the least likely to join the military, slogs through sniper infested booby trap laced rice paddies leading a platoon of young war hardened Marines. Painfully aware of his newness at the beginning of his 13-month tour he wonders if he will be able to keep his fears in check and gain the confidence of the men he leads. Wading through the wreckage of combat he marvels at how thin the veneer of civilization seems to be.
