Description:Excerpt from The District Municipal Council Act, Division Court Act, Import Duties Act, Common School Act, and School Lands Act LV. nd be it enacted, That all fines and penalties imposed by F mes and penal any by-law made by any district council, and With regard to which no mes Imposed by special provision is hereby made, may be recovered With costs, on the laws of the Coun oath of one credible witness other than the prosecutor, by summary pro be ceeding before any two Justices of the peace for the district in which such fine or penalty shall have been imposed, and not forthwith paid, be levied by distress and sale of the goods and chattels of the of fender, under warrant of the justices or one of them; and one meiety of such penalty shall belong to the informer or prosecutor, and the other Application. Moiety to the district, unless the informer or prosecutor shall re nounce his portion of such fine or penalty, in which case he shall become a competent witness, and the whole fine or penalty shall belong to the district, and shall (as shall the moiety in the case first men tioned) be paid over to the treasurer of the district and make part of the funds thereof in his hands.
