Thinking Biblically About The Life Model

Michael Sullivant
4.9/5 (13211 ratings)
Description:Michael Sullivant provides, in Part One, the scriptural basis for many of the principles of "The Model" from his experience as a practical theologian, pastor, author, Bible teacher and from his personal experience. He provides both New and Old Testament references, explanation and commentary to provide all readers with an appreciation of the Life Model by examining its divine roots. In Part Two, he provides deeper insight in to how the Life Model addresses some common biblical themes and questions that have arisen as it has emerged. These include repentance, righteousness, choosing joy, relational attachment, and therapy vs. faith in healing, for example. The "Life Model" is a model of life for mankind on earth from conception to death. It is an idealized model proposing what life should be like for all of us, joyful and thriving, as opposed to what life generally turns out to be: painful with suffering to varying degrees. The Life Model describes that we need five basic attributes to thrive: a place to belong, to receive and give life, the capacity to recover from malfunctions, maturation, and to stay true to one's identity. The fundamental principles are derived from integrating Biblical principles and Christ's teaching, emerging knowledge of brain science, neurology and psychology that belong to the field of neurotheology. The Life Model was pioneered in the 1970s out of a counseling center in Van Nuys, CA by Dr. E. James Wilder and colleagues who recognized that their patients responded much better to therapy when strong relationships were formed with healthy, mature people living together in a multi-generational community incorporating a biblical world-view then to traditional counseling techniques. The Model has since been continually developed by Dr. Wilder and other Christian psychologists, psychiatrists, clinicians, theologians, philosophers and recovery practitioners into a more refined practice available to professionals and for common use for recovery from addiction and trauma, and everyday healthy living. We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
