Description:High school senior Glen Sauten has led a fairly sheltered life. True, he’s never had a relationship with a girl—serious or otherwise—but his dad didn’t get married until he was twenty-six, so Glen figures he’s got lots of time. Okay, yes, there is one girl he really likes, but he’s sure she’d never be interested in him. In fact, she doesn’t seem to be interested in anyone. Nicole Grant, the pastor’s daughter, finds her love-life highly frustrating. Her parents don’t want her to date anyone who isn’t a Christian, which she understands and basically agrees with. The problem is they live in a small town, so that leaves her with very few viable choices. Well, none, really. Glen’s and Nicole’s lives change when a new doctor moves to town. His son, Charlie, seems to have everything Glen doesn’t: good looks, brains, charisma, athletic ability, money, and a shiny new sports car. It isn’t long before Charlie has nearly everyone in the small town in his corner, including Glen, who finds him highly entertaining. Charlie decides that since Nicole is the prettiest girl in town, she's the one for him; but no matter what he does, she won’t date him. As a last resort, Charlie starts going to the church Nicole’s dad pastors, and drags Glen along with him. As Glen gets entangled in Charlie’s quest to date Nicole, he begins to wonder if Charlie actually cares about her or if she represents a challenge he has to win.
