Nauvoo after Joseph

Craig R. Dunn
4.9/5 (22804 ratings)
Description:Excerpt from the book's preface by the author:"Joseph Smith Jr. was martyred by a mob on June 27, 1844. So much of Nauvoo is tied to him that the town's history seems to end with him also. It's true, most of the books and films end there. If it hadn't been for my great-great grandfather's journals, it may have ended there for me too.I decided to title this book "Nauvoo after Joseph" because there is so much more to the story. For example, did you know what happened to the Temple stones after the Temple was destroyed? Some of the tourists I meet are surprised to learn that there was an actual trial for the men indicted for Joseph and Hyrum's deaths and that they were mostly all from the same town. Or how about the 'Battle of Nauvoo'? Was there really a war with cannons and muskets in the streets? It was my discussion on this topic with Lachlan McKay who is the director of the Joseph Smith Historic Site in Nauvoo that inspired me to get going and do some writing.I am grateful to Kimberly Jo Smith for her willingness to give me her thoughts on 'Why Emma didn't go west'. I thought it best on this piece to hear it from a direct descendent of Joseph and Emma."We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
