Amongst these are also shown by a priest a cross of Constantine's, richly jewelled, with an enamel of the Empress Helena upon itThe girdle worn by our Saviour of leather, having Charlemagne's seal upon it; also one worn by the Virgin Mary; some of John Baptist's hair; S. Simeon's arm bone; cross worn by Charlemagne, containing a fragment of the true cross, and his hunting-horn; an elephant's tooth set with, gold and precious stones. These are all contained in vessels of gold or silver-gilt, exquisitely wrought; the designs Gothic, of extreme richness and beauty. The 'great reliques' contained in a magnificent shrine of silver-gilt, which we saw, are only shown once in seven years in the month of July. The coronation chair of Charlemagne is also here. This emperor was born here; the city was raised by him to be the second in the empire. Town Hall scarcely worth seeing.
