Description:Excerpt from Modern Proteus: Or a List of Books Published Under, More Than One Title This paper upon the publication of books under more than one title was read at the meeting of the American Library Association, at Buffalo, last August. It appeared, with the accompanying list of titles, in the "Library Journal" for September-October, 1883, and later as a part of the printed proceedings of the Association. The request has been made by many persons that both might be reprinted in a form more convenient for reference, and Mr. Leypoldt has offered to give to the proposed book a wider distribution by the addition of his imprint. As now published it contains more than nine hundred titles, or over one hundred more than are found in the previous issues. It was the opinion of the librarians present at the convention at Buffalo that the custom of reprinting books under new titles is a pernicious one.
