He had guarded the ocks from the ravages of bear and wolf and lion, and slain them with his own hands, and yet he made a goodsoldier, a peerless king, and the greatest poet that ever lived. Later on, we should never forget that the Star of Bethlehem was first seen by rthe shepherds, tending their ocks by night.
